We really hope that you’ll join us on Saturday, 9/26/26 for some fun and PRIZES/GIVEAWAYS.  If you're not yet a member yet, Join Us and come to the event!

EVMA Members - please reply to themost recent weekly e-mail if you will attend (so we buy enough food), including how many people and if you can bring a side dish or dessert.

Here’s what’s planned, times subject to change:

    • Ride the trails. (maybe 9:30 group ride?)
    • 10:30 AM: Mechanic Class: drivetrain maintenance/cleaning, and time to address squeaky brakes (the top 2 voted topics).
    • 11:15 AM: Club meeting & announcements about trail work, next trips, AND a new MEMBER BENEFIT* that we think you’ll like! *Must be a current EVMA member and present to redeem it in person.
    • Noon: Cookout/potluck. We’ll grill burgers & dogs, and we need some people to bring sides/desserts, please.
    • 12:45 PM: Bike Olympics & prizes from Trek Store Williamsburg, who really hooked us up with some great gear! Bring your bike to participate in events to earn points to win one of 3 prizes. *Must be a current EVMA member to win.

Trek Store Williamsburg is our partner for this event. In addition to supplying prizes, they offer a 10% EVMA member discount when you bring your bike in for service. They have in-store capability for suspension service to keep your boing-boings boinging smoothly.

Details from Trail Captain Steve Carlson:

“If you've ever wanted to work on a new section of trail from scratch, this is your day! We'll be starting a new line on the B trail, adding some flowy rolling lines to that section of the trail. This will be mostly raking and clearing, so please ring a rake or shovel if you have them- we will not have the club trailer.

Meet at 9:00 AM at the upper gate near the intersection of Gatewood and Fontaine. You can drop tools off here before you park if that is convenient.”

If you have any questions or want more info, EVMA members can reply to the most recent weekly e-mail.  Non-EVMA members can join us and get more info.

Sept 10-13, 2026, Allegrippis Trails @ Raystown Lake, PA: Flowy for mountains, beginners to intermediates friendly (but still some climbing & some rocks). A great introduction to riding in the mountains. Get your own campsite or rental house.  (Campground: Seven Points Campground preferred; March 10 is reservation date opening; Ridge camp 1st choice, Meadow Camp 2nd.) or rental house.  Some of us have a rental house, and there are lots more nearby.

Oct 7-11, 2026, Pisgah/Dupont, NC: An epic destination!  Some flow, lots of rocky gnar, long descents after the requisite climbs to get there. Little to no shuttling so you'll have to earn the descents! E-bikes not permitted on most trails we’ll ride.  Get your own campsite or house.  Some of us already have rental houses.

You should probably avoid NQ Park until further updates due to yellowjackets.  See this info directly from York County P&R on Friday 8/14/26:

"we had an incident earlier this week with a staff member approaching a yellow jackets nest and got beat up bad that he went to the ER. We had a technician go out there today, but he searched the general area and couldn’t find it. Just wanted to let you know so if for some reason someone recognizes it, if we could somehow get a more accurate location – we can get the technician back out there. It was on mountain bike trail further inland from emergency exit #5."

    • Sunday, 9:00 AM, Wahrani – join us to ride and show off our new directional signs. If you have not ridden here ever, or in a while, come check it out on a guided tour.

Join EVMA member(s) Jan and/or Paul every* Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Marshview Park for a group ride. Meet at the dog park parking lot. It’s more fun to ride with others!

*Always check evma.org to make sure the ride’s still on due to weather, etc. If it’s raining Tuesday, Jan might change it to Thursday.  UNLESS THIS NOTICE SAYS OPTHERWISE, OR IF IT'S CLEARLY RAINING OUT, ASSUME THAT THE READ IS ON.

Want to get push notifications when trails are closed due to weather/wet conditions?  James City County just added Freedom Park to their Rainout Line.  Sign up at the Rainout Line Website https://rainoutline.com/subscribe/notify/7572392002/0 and use the tabs to choose app, text, or e-mail alerts.  You can sign up to get alerts only for Freedom Park Trails A-E, or any JCC facilities that face weather closures.  (*This is ONLY for Freedom Park bike trail closures, but if Freedom trails are closed, we should avoid nearby trails like New Quarter, YRSP, Wahrani, Harwoods Mill, Mariners Lake, etc.)  You can also still call 757-259-4022 x1, or visit here: https://jamescitycountyva.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Freedom-Park-7.
