This Wednesday's (24 Jun) retirees group ride will be at Harwood's Mill, 10 AM.

Join EVMA member Jan Wozniak every* Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Marshview Park for a group ride. Meet at the dog park parking lot. It’s more fun to ride with others!

*Always check evma.org to make sure the ride’s still on due to weather, etc. If it’s raining Tuesday, Jan might change it to Thursday.  UNLESS THIS NOTICE SAYS OPTHERWISE, OR IF IT'S CLEARLY RAINING OUT, ASSUME THAT THE READ IS ON.

COMPLETED: April 29-May 3, 2026, Stokesville (Harrisonburg VA area): Some rock & gnar, some flow, some shuttling, plenty of climbing.  Get your own campsite or rental house.  (Some of us already have houses.)

Sept 10-13, 2026, Allegrippis Trails @ Raystown Lake, PA: Flowy for mountains, beginners to intermediates friendly (but still some climbing & some rocks). A great introduction to riding in the mountains. Get your own campsite or rental house.  (Campground: Seven Points Campground preferred; March 10 is reservation date opening; Ridge camp 1^st choice, Meadow Camp 2nd.) or rental house.  Some of us have a rental house, and there are lots more nearby.

Oct 7-11, 2026, Pisgah/Dupont, NC: An epic destination!  Some flow, lots of rocky gnar, long descents after the requisite climbs to get there. Little to no shuttling so you'll have to earn the descents! E-bikes not permitted on most trails we’ll ride.  Get your own campsite or house.  Some of us already have rental houses.

Greetings Diggers! We're going to brave the heat and the bugs one last time for the summer and do some line cleanup and enhancement on Trail A at Mariner's Lake. We'll be working on the section coming downhill from the recent re-route near the intersection of Trails A & B. Meet at the upper entrance on Gatewood Dr. by 9:00 AM. Shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows will be helpful. We can move tools to the worksite via the access road, so you can drop stuff off at the gate before you park. Bring your hydration of choice and bug spray!

This is rescheduled from the recent cancellation. Prospective Eagle Scout Declan Henderson is leading this Eagle project. We need help to get this done in 1 day! Please come help if you can.

Steve Nevins has graciously invited the EVMA for a one-time group ride on his Tidewater Challenge race course!  This is a custom-built, challenging race trail on Steve's private property.  The only ways to ride it are: 1. If you register for the Tidewater Challenge race (info & registration here: https://www.bikereg.com/75463); 2. If you get a personal invite from Steve; or 3. IF YOU'RE AN EVMA MEMBER AND JOIN US ON JUNE 7.

Meet by 10:00 AM (don’t be late!) at 4560 Wahrani Ridge Rd., Lanexa, VA 23089 (near the old Red Barn Bikes). We’ll ride as a group starting at 10:00 AM so be there early!  WEAR YOUR NEW EVMA JERSEY!

***Steve notes that this is an advanced trail and may not be suitable for beginners. (We hear that there are some punchy climbs.) 

Sunday, May 31, Trail Work/Group Ride/Lunch?/WOYW Race all @ NQ Park: Join us for a BIG DAY at New Quarter Park this Sunday, May 31 with good weather. Meet at 9:00 AM in the first small parking lot at the start of the park road.

• 1.       Trail Work: help us clear 2 downed trees blocking the trail. One is a big mess (see pic below) with no good ride around. Eric & Jeff will handle the saws. We need your muscle to clear debris & roll logs away. ***Bring bug spray (ticks & chiggers suck!). We’ll walk in at Access 10, but bring your bike for…..
• 2.       Group Ride: If we get enough help for the trees, some of us can do a ride instead. And/or if we finish the trees soon enough, we can ride afterwards. Then…..
• 3.       Lunch?: We’ll see who can stay and either go to lunch, or maybe we bring in fried chicken for…...
• 4.       WOYW Race to cheer on the kids: This is the last Weekend On Your Wheels kids race series, so let’s watch and loudly (obnoxiously in a positive way?) cheer on the youth racers! Bring cowbells. First race at 1:00 PM, last race should be over by 3:00 PM. The race course is on the opposite side of the park road from the Redoubt Run trail.

EVMA hosts Beginners Rides at Freedom Park open to the public. If you’re new to mountain biking, know somebody who is, or just want a very chill ride and get some pointers or learn your way around Freedom Park, join us! Kids are welcome (with a parent or responsible adult riding with them!).

Meet by 9:30 AM in the small parking lot by the log cabins & Bunny Trail.  We'll adjust the ride depending on who shows up with what skill/experience level, but will start on the Bunny Trail, then ride short parts of Trail C (no jumps/drops/features!) using the emergency access points.

This is Trail Captain Steve’s 2^nd Saturday of the month trail work.  

• Meet at the main parking area (Corner of Warwick and Gatewood) by 9:00 AM.
• We'll be spreading dirt and gravel (provided by Newport News) on the trail where it enters the park from the parking area.
• Shovels and rakes will be helpful, wagons or wheelbarrows too!
• Bring gloves, hydration, and bug spray!
