    EVENTS COMING UP

June 10th – Would you like to see some single-track trails in Gloucester County?  You can help support this cause.  Conte’s bike shop will lead a night ride at Beaverdam Park this Saturday starting at 7 pm and ending at 9 pm.  There is a $5 donation requested to ride.  Helmet and lights are required.  Come on out and show your support.

June 11th - Weekends on your Wheels Youth bike races at New Quarter Park.  Registration 12:45 and races begin at 1:30 pm.  Bring out the kids and have a great time.  Race will be followed by a pizza party and awards ceremony.

June – No official group rides planned.  Feel like riding?  Post your ride on EVMA Chatter and see who may want to join you.

July Meeting – A social gathering is being planned for July.  Date and location are being determined.

August Meeting – Probably August 5th, also a ride and social gathering. More details soon.

September 22-24 – Fall trip to Douthat State Park.  The club will reserve 6 camp sites, and there can be 3 tents with 2 people per site.  Each spot will be $30 (yes, there was a slight change to the price).  If you have a larger tent, reserve 2 spots.  If you plan to bring a camper, please reserve your own spot.

    OTHER NOTES

Volunteer Opportunities – The club runs on volunteers.  EVMA always needs trail captains, ride leaders, board members, and club trip hosts.  New Officers will be elected at the September meeting.  You could be the person to make a difference.  If you are able to help, contact Jim Irby.

Cub Scout Support – Your humble secretary is requesting the help of 4 or 5 EVMA members who have some mechanical skills to assist with a cub scout event on July 29th.  The scouts will ride through Yorktown Battlefield after a bike safety course.  The event will start around 8:30 am but be over by noon.  If you can help or have questions, please contact Melanie at Melanie_storrs@yahoo.com.

EVMA gear – There is a plan to or some shirts and jerseys in the near future that will be available for purchase.  If you want a specific size or color, let Jim know so we can get it for you.  There are plenty of youth sized shirts and adult shirts in the smaller size that can be purchased now.

Trail Work Challenge – Have you stepped up to the challenge?  If you are out riding, take a few minutes to pick up fallen branches or cut back a few of those face slappers. EVMA President Jim challenges everyone to spend 10-15 minutes of a future bike ride doing a little trail work.  See the Chatter page for more information. Remember to report any downed trees to president@evma.org or post on Facebook.  Please include the park, trail, mile marker and a picture, if possible.  Please don’t do any leaf blowing or major trail modifications without permission.
