EVENTS COMING UP

January 18 – Group ride at York River State Park starting at 10 am.  If it’s raining, the ride will be rescheduled to Sunday at the same time.  Check EVMA Chatter for updates.  Meet in the parking lot just past the guard station.  Ride Leader:  Penny.

January 20 – We were trying to organize a group ride for the holiday as many are off work, but we could not get a ride leader.  If you are riding this day, post on EVMA Chatter so others may join you.

January 25 – Trail work day at Wahrani starting at 9 am.  If you have never ridden this trail, it is very unique and fun.  This is a great way to learn a little about the trail before riding it.  Lunch will be provided to volunteers.  Bring your bike and ride afterwards.  This trail is located outside of West Point, about 20 minutes from Williamsburg and Gloucester, only 40 minutes from Yorktown.  Meet in the parking lot.

February 1 – Group ride at Freedom Park at 10 am followed by club meeting and lunch at noon at the Interpretive Center.  Come out and help plan the EVMA spring trip, discuss other trail work needs, and get your T-shirt order submitted.

Night rides Night rides are happening at Harwood’s Mill on Tuesdays, New Quarter Park on Wednesdays and Freedom Park on Thursdays.

Rides begin at 6 pm and we have to be out of the parks by 8 pm.  Every rider should have 2 lights, and no one should be riding alone.  Rides will be canceled if there are not at least 2 riders.  Night rides will not last forever so get out there and enjoy them while you can.

OTHER NOTES

Trail Closure – There will be a foot race at Harwood’s Mill on Saturday, January 18th from 7am to noon. For the safety of the runners, we are asked not to bike those trails during that time period.  Please enjoy one of our many other trails that morning.

New VP of Trails – Thank you to Mark W. who has stepped up to the challenge of being EVMA’s VP of Trails.  If you have been doing the night rides at Harwood’s Mill, you already know him.  Mark has extensive knowledge about computers and has already offered a lot of great tips, so we are very happy to have him on board.
